Years ago
You gave me advice.
Words at which I failed
To understand:
A right idea, a wrong time.
For I once had an idea
In which I quickly cast away
Banished it to the depths
And did best to forget
Though I never did.
And so now I pace and ponder
Feet tapping against the floor
And I fear I made the mistake
of trying to burn the truth from my core
And now I think of you—
your adage proven true
And now I sit, patiently
As that old idea brews
